ANTENATAL CARE
LET'S GET YOU READY FOR YOUR BABY!

keeping a close eye
For a first time consultation, I will run through the history of your pregnancy, as well as to any and all medical history that may be relative to your pregnancy and birth experience.
At each consultation, I will do screening for possible issues such as pre-eclampsia, diabetes, etc, all through urine analysis, blood pressure monitoring, weight measurement, and physical examination.
It is then important to check on the well-being of your baby by determining their growth and lie, through abdominal palpation and a foetal dopler.
As a midwife, we are registered to monitor low risk pregnancy. If I pick up any abnormalities, I will refer you to a doctor for a second opinion.
Regardless of the abnormalities, it is important that you see your doctor for an ultrasound between week 16 and 20 for an anomoly scan, thereafter returning to your normal consults with me. Should your backup is any private hospital you will also go back to see your gynecologist to ensure continuity of care.
